Seongnam City Ranks First Nationwide in "Environmental Safety Competitiveness" in 30 Years of Local Autonomy Evaluation

Seongnam City, led by Mayor Shin Sangjin, announced on the 25th that it received the highest excellence certification plaque by ranking first nationwide in the Environmental Safety Competitiveness category in the "30 Years of Local Autonomy Competitiveness Evaluation" hosted by the Korea Institute of Public Administration.

View original imageThis evaluation analyzed the changes in 53 indicators across five categories-population, finance, local economy, health and culture, and environmental safety-for all 226 cities, counties, and districts nationwide, examining trends in ten-year intervals from 1995 to the present.
Seongnam City received high marks across the board, including improvements in residential environments, enhancements to living conditions, and strengthened public safety.
The evaluation indicators and scores by category were as follows: 87.91 points in the residential environment category, including the number of parking spaces per 1,000 residents (695 spaces) and building permit area (375㎡); 86.58 points in the living environment category, including annual household waste generated per person (52kg), park area per person (12㎡), and the ratio of green area (73%); and 60.00 points in the safety category, such as the number of traffic accidents per 1,000 vehicles (8.9 cases). The city achieved an average score of 78.16 points, the highest nationwide.
