Gwangju University Hospitals Expect Significant Return of Residents in Second Half of Year
A significant number of applicants have applied for the second half resident recruitment at Chonnam National University Hospital and Chosun University Hospital, both major general hospitals in the Gwangju region.
According to the medical community on August 22, the application rate for the second half resident recruitment at Chonnam National University Hospital, which closed applications the previous day, was recorded at 63% for both interns and residents. Chonnam National University Hospital is recruiting a total of 389 positions, including 108 interns and 281 residents.
Chosun University Hospital, which also closed applications on the same day, saw a combined application rate of 76% for interns and residents. Chosun University Hospital is recruiting a total of 159 positions, including 35 interns and 124 residents.
However, each university hospital has decided not to disclose detailed information such as the number of applicants by specialty.

An official from one of the university hospitals stated, "Due to the vacancy of residents in the first half of the year, we are recruiting more people than usual for the second half," adding, "We are seeing signs of residents returning. If additional recruitment plans are announced, we intend to continue the recruitment process."
