"Daejeon Youth Internship Support Program" Achieves 74.3% Full-Time Conversion Rate This Year
244 Youths Converted to Full-Time Positions in the Past 3 Years
Monthly Wage of 2 Million Won and 50,000 Won Transportation Allowance Provided During Internship Period
The "Daejeon Youth Internship Support Program," which provides young people with a monthly wage of 2 million won and a transportation allowance of 50,000 won during a three-month internship period, is showing results by leading to stable full-time employment.
This program focuses on recent trends in the job market, such as a preference for hiring experienced candidates, the need for experience even for internships, and a growing demand for those with practical work experience. It aims to provide "work experience" to unemployed youth and promote "early employment" through conversion to full-time positions.
From 2022 to 2024, a total of 323 companies participated in the program, and 378 young people completed their internships. Of these, 244 were converted to full-time employees, resulting in an average conversion rate of 64.6%. The annual conversion rates were 64.5% in 2022, 59.7% in 2023, and 70.8% in 2024, showing an upward trend in recent years.
As of August 1 this year, 65 companies are participating, with 82 young people working as interns. Among them, 39 have completed their internships, and 29 have been converted to full-time positions, recording a conversion rate of 74.3%.
In particular, the city achieved its early target of 80 participants in July through ongoing and focused matching tailored to companies' hiring needs.
Among the companies converting interns to full-time employees, Lamylab achieved the highest result by hiring four young people at once, while Collaboair and IKTION each converted two interns to full-time positions. Additionally, 21 other companies each hired one young person, allowing a total of 29 individuals to start new careers at 24 companies.
Kwon Kyungmin, Director of Economic Affairs for Daejeon City, stated, "It is important to accurately understand policy demand and support young people so they can climb the career ladder," adding, "We will continue to expand the Youth Internship Support Program every year to further support youth employment success and career development."
