Police Launch Investigation into Alleged Preferential Treatment in Gwangju No. 1 Sewage Treatment Plant Improvement Project
Disqualified Bidder Alleges Preferential Treatment in Company A's Selection, Cancellation, and Re-selection
Police: "Will Review Complaint and Verify the Facts"
The Gwangju Metropolitan Government is under police investigation after a complaint was filed alleging that preferential treatment was given to a specific company in connection with the Gwangju No. 1 Sewage Treatment Plant improvement project.
The Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Investigation Unit of the Gwangju Police Agency announced on the 21st that it is currently reviewing a complaint submitted by a company that lost the bid for the project.
The complaint reportedly alleges that the Gwangju Metropolitan Government selected Company A, which proposed a construction method that did not meet the bidding criteria, and then, after issues were raised, canceled the selection only to later choose another method proposed by Company A, thereby granting them undue preferential treatment. The complaint also claims that false official documents were created during this process.
