Dongmyung University Department of Social Welfare Signs Industry-Academic Partnership with Three Senior Protection Institutions in Busan
Establishing a Support System for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and Protection of Human Rights
The Department of Social Welfare at Dongmyung University (President Lee Sangcheon) is partnering with three senior protection specialized institutions in Busan to strengthen efforts for the prevention of elder abuse and the protection of human rights.
On August 20, the Department of Social Welfare at Dongmyung University signed industry-academic cooperation agreements with the Jungbu Senior Protection Specialized Institution (Director Ahn Kyungsook), the Dongbu Senior Protection Specialized Institution (Director Oh Jooyoung), and the Seobu Senior Protection Specialized Institution (Director Jang Hyewon) at Room 307 of the university's main building.

View original imageUnder this agreement, the four organizations will jointly promote initiatives such as the prevention of elder abuse, the establishment of support systems for the protection of elderly human rights, and activities to strengthen rights and interests. In particular, they plan to substantially enhance the prevention of elder abuse and the protection of rights within the local community by promoting public awareness, expanding educational activities, and establishing systems for cooperation and exchange.
Oh Jooyoung, Director of the Dongbu Senior Protection Specialized Institution, said, "With this agreement as a starting point, we will devote even greater efforts to preventing elder abuse and protecting human rights in Busan."
Yoon Kihyuk, professor at the Department of Social Welfare at Dongmyung University, stated, "We will focus on nurturing field-ready talent by expanding students' opportunities for hands-on experience in the field of elderly welfare and by strengthening connections to protection and welfare facilities for abused seniors."
Currently, there are three senior protection specialized institutions operating in Busan, providing one-stop services for the identification, protection, and treatment of abused seniors, as well as prevention activities and human rights protection.
