Enhancing the Entire Export Support Process

KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) is set to build an AI-based "intelligent trade and investment platform." The goal is to provide export companies with customized information by leveraging AI technology.

On August 21, KOTRA announced at its headquarters in Seocho-gu, Seoul, that it had completed its Information Strategy Plan (ISP) and would sequentially implement 10 key initiatives over the next three years starting in 2026.

This project goes beyond simple system upgrades, focusing on establishing a next-generation trade and investment platform that both domestic and international clients can utilize. By collecting and analyzing data with AI technology and providing personalized services based on this data, KOTRA aims to improve the entire export support process.

In particular, this ISP emphasizes addressing one of the biggest challenges faced by export companies: the difficulty of adopting new AI technologies. To this end, a preliminary customer survey revealed that many respondents wanted to receive comprehensive, real-time information on-site, both domestically and internationally, and to utilize customized services throughout the entire export process.

Reflecting this demand, KOTRA has established three main strategies for supporting the complex export process through a digital platform: ▲Innovation in AI-based customer service ▲Creation of a data-driven AX (AI transformation) ecosystem ▲Establishment of a sustainable governance system.

In line with these strategies, KOTRA will sequentially implement 10 major initiatives from 2026 to 2028. Through this, both domestic and international clients will be able to easily access KOTRA’s digital platform and naturally utilize AI-based customized services. Going forward, export companies will be able to match more efficiently with genuine buyers recommended by AI and search and utilize AI-based market information analysis services provided by 131 overseas trade offices.

Kang Kyungsung, President of KOTRA, stated, "Through this project, we will help export companies enhance their competitiveness in the global market more efficiently and swiftly by utilizing KOTRA’s intelligent trade and investment platform." He added, "KOTRA will fulfill its role as a smart assistant and reliable partner for export companies through digital innovation powered by AI technology."
