The Safety Confirmation Allowance provides 100,000 won each during heatwave and cold wave periods, totaling 200,000 won annually for each care worker. Last year, with a total budget of 6.8 billion won, the province supported allowances for approximately 3,600 care workers.
Senior customized care service workers visit or call the homes of elderly people living alone to check on their well-being and provide tailored services such as transportation support, ensuring a stable life in old age and preventing health deterioration.
In particular, for workers who experience psychological trauma from situations such as discovering solitary deaths, the province is expanding healing programs and psychological counseling to help stabilize their emotions and support long-term employment and improved service quality.
Jeong Gwangseon, Director of Health and Welfare at Jeonnam Province, stated, "Elderly care workers are the ones who check on seniors every single day, even during extreme heat. Based on feedback from the field, we will further improve working conditions and emotional support to create a safe care environment for both seniors and care workers."
