Gyeonggi-do 119 Special Response Team Saves 100 Million Won by Performing In-House Maintenance on Fire Helicopter
The Gyeonggi-do 119 Special Response Team has reportedly saved 100 million won in budget by performing in-house maintenance on its fire helicopter.
On August 20, the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced that the 119 Special Response Team conducted helicopter maintenance internally instead of outsourcing it to an external contractor, resulting in savings of about 100 million won. At the same time, the team secured maintenance expertise and shortened the maintenance period.
The 119 Special Response Team explained that this case marks an important turning point, not only in terms of cost reduction, but also in strengthening the stability and self-reliance of helicopter operations.

While maintenance was typically commissioned to external specialists, this time the 119 Special Response Team established its own maintenance standards and maximized the use of available equipment and personnel to carry out the work in-house.
In particular, the in-house maintenance also produced additional results, including improved practical proficiency of maintenance personnel, internalization of maintenance procedures and technology, and strengthened capability to operate maintenance equipment.
