Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership and SR Join Forces for Partner Company ESG Support Project
Providing Tailored Consulting and Training for Partner Companies
The Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership announced on August 20 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SR to promote an ESG support project for partner companies in 2025.
This agreement goes beyond simple participation in a system and is significant in that it aims to realize the concrete goal of "creating sustainable value in the railway industry," taking into account the unique characteristics of the railway sector and the ecosystem of its partner companies. SR and the Commission plan to help partner companies build competitiveness in a changing business environment, while also supporting qualitative improvements in railway services based on public safety and trust.
The project will begin by objectively assessing the ESG readiness levels of partner companies, then provide tailored consulting and training according to each company's industry, size, and capabilities, and systematically support improvement activities that can be implemented in the field.
Through this initiative, partner companies will be able to secure a favorable position amid changing regulatory environments and domestic and international bidding competition, and will also be eligible for various incentives, such as the issuance of ESG Excellent SME Certificates.
SR plans to use this agreement as an opportunity to actively support voluntary ESG improvement activities by partner companies in order to enhance railway safety and service quality, and to fully implement sustainable management based on safety. The Commission also expects that, through this support project, exemplary cases of win-win ESG models will spread across various industries.
Lee Dalgon, Chairman of the Commission, stated, "This agreement is an important step toward practicing win-win management and social responsibility, through customized ESG support that takes into account the unique characteristics of the railway industry," and added, "The Commission, together with SR, will actively support partner companies in enhancing their competitiveness and creating social value in the face of a rapidly changing global environment."
