To this end, the county has formed a dedicated task force to address illegal occupancy facilities within rivers and valleys, focusing on the inspection of unauthorized structures, illegally dumped waste, and unlawful cultivation or planting activities within river zones.
According to the River Act, occupying river zones or installing structures without permission, as well as actions such as impounding or diverting river water, may result in imprisonment for up to two years or a fine of up to 20 million KRW.
The county is prioritizing voluntary removal of illegal occupancy facilities, but if there is non-compliance, administrative actions in accordance with the River Act will also be enforced.
Through this intensive crackdown, the county expects to protect residents from summer disasters and to create a beautiful and clean river environment, thereby further enhancing the quality of life.
