Shinhan Donghae Open to Be Held at Jack Nicklaus GC on September 11 with Total Prize Money of 1.5 Billion Won
Shinhan Financial Group announced on August 18 that it will host the 41st Shinhan Donghae Open from September 11 to 14 at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea (GC) in Songdo, Incheon.
The Shinhan Donghae Open was established in 1981 by Korean-Japanese golf enthusiasts, led by the late honorary chairman of Shinhan Bank, Lee Hee-gun, to foster outstanding golf talent in Korea. The tournament is co-hosted by the Korea Professional Golfers’ Association (KPGA) Tour, the Asian Tour, and the Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO) Tour.
This year’s tournament will return to Jack Nicklaus GC for the first time in 11 years since 2014. The total prize money has been increased by 100 million won from last year, reaching 1.5 billion won, with the winner’s prize set at 270 million won.
Yoo Minhyeok, a second-year student at Sogang High School, who achieved back-to-back victories at the 2nd Shinhan Donghae Men’s Amateur Golf Championship held last month, has also earned a spot to compete as a representative amateur player.
Jin Okdong, Chairman of Shinhan Financial Group, stated, “To provide an optimal environment for the participating players to fully demonstrate their abilities, we have selected a venue with Korea’s best tournament course and decided to increase the total prize money. We will continue to provide unwavering support so that the Shinhan Donghae Open can establish itself as a leading tournament that drives the development of golf in Asia and nurtures outstanding players.”
