Applications Accepted from September 1 to 19
Yangcheon District in Seoul (Mayor Lee Kijae) announced on August 18 that it will select 170 recipients for the '2025 Yangcheon District Scholarship' and distribute a total of 150 million KRW in scholarship funds.
Since 2023, the district has continued to expand both the size of its scholarship fund and the range of eligible recipients by making additional contributions to the scholarship fund. This year, the number of scholarship recipients has increased by 50 compared to last year, and the total scholarship amount has risen by 50 million KRW. In particular, the eligibility for general scholarships has been extended to include middle school students, allowing more students to benefit.

The general scholarship is available to middle school, high school, and university students from households with an income at or below 100% of the median income (for university students, within the fifth income bracket according to the Korea Student Aid Foundation).
The academic excellence scholarship targets high school students whose grades in the previous semester ranked in the top 20%. For students in the high school credit system, at least 80% of their absolute evaluation subjects must be graded A, and their average grade in relative evaluation subjects must be 1.42 or higher. For the nine-level grading system, the average subject ranking must be 2.75 or higher. The special talent scholarship is open to elementary, middle, and high school students who have placed within the top three at competitions at the metropolitan or provincial level or higher in the fields of arts, sports, or science.
The scholarship amounts vary by educational level: 300,000 KRW per elementary or middle school student, 600,000 KRW per high school student, and between 500,000 KRW and up to 1.8 million KRW per university student.
Applications will be accepted from September 1 to 19. General scholarship applicants should apply at their local community service center, while applicants for the academic excellence and special talent scholarships should apply through their schools. Students attending schools outside the district must submit a letter of recommendation from their principal to the community service center in their residential area. The selection results will be individually notified in early November, and the scholarships will be awarded in mid-November.
