"80th Anniversary of Liberation" ... Gyeongnam East Veterans Affairs Office and NC Dinos Hold Ceremonial First Pitch and First Hit Event
The Gyeongnam East Veterans Affairs Office, in collaboration with the NC Dinos, hosted a ceremonial first pitch and first hit event to mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation.
On August 15, during the home game between the NC Dinos and the Hanwha Eagles, Kim Eonju, the child of independence activist Kim Juseok (Goeam), and Kim Jintae, Vice President of the Goeam Kim Juseok Memorial Association, took part in the ceremonial first pitch and first hit, respectively.
Independence activist Kim Juseok (Goeam) formed the Hakwoo Donginhoe student group in April 1944 while attending Gyeongseong Electric School. He was involved in activities such as destroying Japanese military communication facilities and providing information to independence forces. He was arrested and detained for about four months and was posthumously awarded the Presidential Citation in 2018.
In addition, meaningful events such as the "Liberation Day OX Quiz" and the "80 Years of Liberation & Everyone's Veterans Affairs" promotional campaign were held, allowing spectators at Changwon NC Park to reflect on the significance of Liberation Day and honor the patriotic spirit of independence activists who devoted themselves to the nation.
