Jeollanamdo Forest Research Institute Wins Grand Prize at National Mugunghwa Contest

The Jeollanamdo Forest Research Institute received the Grand Prize, the Presidential Award, at the '2025 National Flower Mugunghwa Grand Festival Mugunghwa Excellent Potted Flower Contest' held at the National Sejong Arboretum in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day.
View original imageThe Jeollanamdo Forest Research Institute announced that it won the Grand Prize, the Presidential Award, at the '2025 National Flower Mugunghwa Grand Festival Mugunghwa Excellent Potted Flower Contest' held at the National Sejong Arboretum under the auspices of the Korea Forest Service, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, which ran through August 17.
Representing Jeollanamdo, the Jeollanamdo Forest Research Institute submitted 70 potted Mugunghwa entries to the national festival and was awarded the prestigious Grand Prize in the group category, which included participation from cities and provinces across the country.
In addition, Park Minsook from Hampyeong and Kim Jonggwan from Haenam achieved notable success by winning the Korea Forest Service Director’s Award in the individual category.
With this Grand Prize, Jeollanamdo has built a remarkable record, following Silver Prizes in 2020 and 2021, and a Grand Prize in 2022, reclaiming the top honor after three years. The region’s expertise in cultivating the nation’s best potted Mugunghwa and managing its varieties has once again been recognized by experts and the national evaluation panel.
The contest highly valued the Jeollanamdo Forest Research Institute’s efforts to systematize Mugunghwa cultivation management methods by season, its 'On-site Mugunghwa Cultivation and Management Consulting' to strengthen the capabilities of local governments, and the Jeollanamdo Mugunghwa Excellent Potted Flower Contest.
