Gwangju City Council Restructures Budget Committee, Appoints Jo Seokho as Chair

View original imageOn August 14, the Gwangju Metropolitan Council restructured the 4th Budget and Accounts Special Committee, appointing Jokseokho as the chair and Limyeongno as the vice chair. The committee was finalized with eight members, including Chair Jokseokho, Vice Chair Limyeongno, and council members Park Pilsun, Park Heeyul, Seo Yonggyu, Shim Cheolui, An Pyeonghwan, and Hong Giwol.
During a preliminary meeting held immediately after the plenary session, members of the special committee unanimously agreed to nominate Jokseokho, the most senior member with multiple terms, as chair, recognizing his ability to operate the committee stably.
Jokseokho, the newly appointed chair of the Budget and Accounts Special Committee, stated, "Given the current difficulties facing the local economy, I will fulfill the council's fundamental role of monitoring and checking the executive branch with a strong sense of responsibility." He added, "We will boldly cut unnecessary budget items and ensure generous investment in areas where it is truly needed, so that citizens can feel tangible changes."
