Paju City Signs First-Ever Agreement with Korea Construction Appraisal Association Among Local Governments
Technical Cooperation for Major Investment Projects Including Paju Medical Cluster

Paju City in Gyeonggi Province is pursuing large-scale investment and development projects such as the Paju Medical Cluster and the Free Economic Zone to realize its vision of becoming a self-sustaining city with a population of one million. To ensure more efficient and seamless project execution, the city has signed a business agreement for technical cooperation with the Korea Construction Appraisal Association, a professional organization of construction appraisal experts.

On August 13, Paju City held a signing ceremony for the business agreement in the mayor’s reception room, attended by Kim Kyungil, Mayor of Paju City, and Kim Changgeun, President of the Korea Construction Appraisal Association. The agreement aims to facilitate 'Greater Paju, Realization of a City of One Million, and Technical Cooperation for Key Projects.'

Paju City explained that it is the first local government in the country to sign such an agreement with the Korea Construction Appraisal Association. The purpose is to ensure the smooth execution of essential construction appraisals and various forms of technical cooperation required for large-scale public construction projects, as well as to facilitate professional construction appraisals during the handover of public facilities.

The Korea Construction Appraisal Association, established in 2022, is an organization of construction appraisal and construction dispute experts. It is comprised of 134 engineers holding professional certifications in fields such as architecture and civil engineering, as well as lawyers and PhDs with outstanding practical experience in construction-related disputes.

Through this agreement, the two organizations have pledged to actively cooperate in introducing advanced technologies for the successful implementation of Paju City’s major investment projects, including the development of Unjeong New Town, the Paju Medical Cluster, the Free Economic Zone, the Peace Economy Special Zone, and the construction of a domed stadium.

The main points of the agreement include: ▲ providing scientific and technological consultation related to regional construction projects; ▲ cooperating on resolving major issues and promoting regional development; ▲ enhancing capabilities in the fields of construction disputes and construction appraisals; and ▲ supporting the activities of professional construction appraisers during the handover of public facilities.

Kim Kyungil, Mayor of Paju City, stated, "This business agreement will significantly enhance the city’s ability and technical capacity to conduct construction appraisals, which are essential for ongoing large-scale public investment projects in Paju. As we have agreed to technical cooperation to realize a self-sustaining city of one million, I expect that the Korea Construction Appraisal Association’s outstanding technical expertise and extensive field experience will further strengthen Paju City’s professional capabilities in construction technology and improve the efficiency of construction processes."
