Bank of Korea to Issue Commemorative Coins for 2025 APEC Summit
The Bank of Korea announced on August 14, 2025, that it will issue two types of commemorative coins to mark the hosting of the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Korea.
The obverse side of the coins features cultural assets of Gyeongju and a depiction of the summit meeting among member leaders, encapsulating the core themes of the 2025 APEC Summit: connectivity, innovation, and prosperity. The reverse side displays the official emblem of the summit. A total of 14,000 coins will be issued, with 7,000 coins of each type. The sales price is 83,500 won per coin (with a face value of 70,000 won), and 163,500 won for the two-coin set.
For reservations, 90% of the total issuance allocated for domestic sales will be handled by Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation through financial institutions (Woori Bank and NongHyup Bank) and its own online shopping mall. If the number of reservations exceeds the domestic allocation, winners will be selected by random lottery. The reservation period is from September 8 to September 26. Delivery is scheduled to begin on October 24. For overseas sales (10% of the total issuance), reservations will be accepted by Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation through overseas sales channels. If the overseas allocation is not fully reserved, the remaining coins will be added to the domestic allocation.
