Korea Forest Service to Conduct Special Safety Inspections at Forestry Worksites, Including Forest Management
The Korea Forest Service announced on August 14 that it will conduct a special safety inspection from August 14 to September 19 to prevent safety accidents at forestry worksites.

View original imageThis safety inspection is being implemented in response to the growing need for workplace safety inspections at the national level, following a series of recent fatal accidents at construction sites.
The inspection will cover all forestry projects, including forest management, forest roads, erosion control, and forest pest and disease control. Forestry work often involves high-risk operations using equipment such as chainsaws and excavators in challenging environments like steep slopes and rocky areas within forests, which increases the risk of safety accidents.
Accordingly, the Korea Forest Service plans to focus on checking whether safety and health measures are being implemented in accordance with relevant regulations, as well as whether workers are wearing protective gear and other on-site safety practices necessary to protect workers.

Song Junho, Director General of the Forest Welfare Bureau at the Korea Forest Service, stated, "Protecting the lives and safety of the public is a responsibility of the state," and added, "Through on-site safety inspections, we will take various measures to ensure that forestry workers can work in a safe environment."
