Busan Port Authority Expands Tailored Welfare Support for Port Area Residents
Busan Port Authority (BPA), led by President Song Sanggeun, is strengthening support for local welfare blind spots by partnering with municipalities near the port.
On August 5, BPA signed a business agreement with Saha District Office in Busan, and on August 13, with Jinhae District Office in Changwon, Gyeongnam, for the "Port Area Visiting Social Contribution Project." With this agreement, BPA will closely collaborate with local governments throughout the entire process, including providing tailored welfare support, identifying beneficiaries, and post-support management.
The "Port Area Visiting Social Contribution Project" is BPA's flagship social contribution program. It began in 2021 in Jung, Dong, and Yeongdo Districts of Busan, expanded to Nam District in 2022, and has been further extended to include Saha and Jinhae Districts this year.
In Saha District, the "Dajeong Dagam Hope-Making Project" will support 10 multicultural families in vulnerable situations by providing educational expenses, Korean language education, mental health counseling, and meal support. In Jinhae District, the "Space Support Project for Low-Income Children to Dream Freely" will offer learning and living spaces (such as desks, chairs, and bedding) to children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
BPA will provide annual support of 15 million won to each local government project and aims to enhance the effectiveness of assistance from beneficiary selection to post-support management.
