President Lee Reflects: "The First Two Months Felt Like Tumbling Down a Steep Slope"

On August 13, President Lee Jaemyung stated, "(The National Policy Planning Committee) is presenting the five-year plan today. We will thoroughly and swiftly review the committee's proposal and implement it to the extent possible."
During his opening remarks at the National Policy Planning Committee's public briefing, held at the State Guest House of the Blue House, President Lee said, "I would like to thank the members of the committee who have devoted themselves over the past two months to formulating national policy tasks, as well as the 1.81 million citizens who submitted their opinions through 'Everyone's Square,' the national communication platform. I could truly feel the public's aspiration for a better world." He made these remarks as he expressed his gratitude.
President Lee reflected, "The first two months of the new administration, launched without a transition committee, felt like tumbling down a steep slope." He added, "While responding to urgent issues, we did our utmost to revive a nation that had collapsed." President Lee continued, "We have strived for the recovery of people's livelihoods, the restoration of politics, and the renewal of diplomacy. In order to establish a true government of the people, we have worked to make state affairs more transparent and accessible. Thanks to everyone's efforts, we are now seeing the first signs of normalization."
He also reiterated the direction for future governance. President Lee said, "We will create a truly happy Korea, where the people are the true owners of the nation. Through politics that unite the people, we will move beyond conflict and confrontation toward integration." He continued, "We will pursue balanced growth by promoting an innovative economy, so that everyone can share in its benefits." He added, "We will build a robust society that safeguards the lives of our people, and we will uphold our national interests with pragmatic diplomacy on the international stage."
President Lee clarified that the committee's proposal is not yet finalized policy. The national policy tasks announced by the committee today will be finalized after a thorough government review and approval by the Cabinet.

He stated, "The committee's proposal presents a desirable direction for national policy and incorporates input from various sectors through multiple channels. It is subject to revision at any time." He further explained, "Although the committee gathered a wide range of public opinions in the process of drafting this proposal, this is not the end. As these policies are finalized and implemented by the government, we will continue to gather public input and refine them into even better policy measures."
Meanwhile, the five-year plan for the Lee Jaemyung administration, announced by the National Policy Planning Committee today, consists of a national vision, three key principles, five major objectives, and 123 national policy tasks. The national vision, which serves as the guiding principle for the new administration, is "A nation where the people are the true owners, a happy Korea for all." The three key principles are: ▲Listening and integration ▲Fairness and trust ▲Practicality and results. The five major objectives are: ▲Politics that unite the people ▲An innovative economy that leads the world ▲Balanced growth where everyone prospers ▲A robust society built on strong fundamentals ▲Diplomacy and security centered on national interests. In addition, 23 strategies and 123 national policy tasks have been outlined. The committee also included "12 key strategic tasks" in the plan.
