'Light Rediscovered'... National Memorial Museum of Forced Mobilization to Host 80th Liberation Anniversary Event
The Foundation for Victims of Forced Mobilization under Japanese Occupation (Chairman: Shim Kyuseon), affiliated with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, will host a commemorative event titled 'Light Rediscovered' at the National Memorial Museum of Forced Mobilization under Japanese Occupation to mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day and to reflect on the values of peace and human rights.
This event will take place over three days, from August 15 to 17. Participating children will take on the role of members of the Korean Liberation Army, visiting various experience booths set up throughout the museum to collect secret codes. By decoding these codes using a Hangul cipher table that was actually used at the time, they can receive a commemorative gift called the 'Seed of Light.'
The experience programs are also diverse. Activities include making eco-bags with FOMO stencils, crafting acrylic mobiles related to forced mobilization in Namyang Archipelago, playing independence movement-themed board games, and creating their own Liberation Day puzzles. In particular, the making of Liberation Day shrinkles keyrings and upcycling experiences are supported by Busan Democracy Park and local workshops in Busan.
