Dongducheon Selects Three Recipients for the 22nd Gender Equality Award
Dongducheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyungdeok) announced on August 13, 2025, that three individuals have been selected as recipients of the 22nd Dongducheon Gender Equality Award.
The Dongducheon Gender Equality Award is an honor presented to citizens who have contributed to the promotion of gender equality, including spreading a culture of gender equality and expanding women's participation in society. This year, nominations were accepted from July 1 to July 28, with a total of seven candidates. After a review by the Dongducheon Gender Equality Committee, three final recipients were selected.
This year's awardees are: ▲ Sunhee Lee (President of the Dongducheon Branch of the Korea Beauty Association) in the "Promoting Work-Family Balance" category; ▲ Lee Cheol (President of the Love Donuts Volunteer Association) in the "Advancing Gender Equality" category; and ▲ Jang Youngae (Senior Vice Branch Director of the Dongducheon Branch of the Korean Traditional Music Association) in the "Spreading Gender Equality Culture" category.
Mayor Park Hyungdeok stated, "Hearing the news that three individuals have been selected as recipients of this year's Gender Equality Award gives me hope that our society is moving toward greater respect and consideration for all, regardless of gender. I sincerely thank the awardees for their dedication to gender equality in their respective fields. Dongducheon City will continue to do its best to create a society where work-life balance is achieved and everyone is respected without discrimination."

The selected recipients will be presented with plaques at the "2025 Gender Equality Week Commemorative Ceremony," which will be held at the Hanullim Performance Hall in the Lifelong Learning Center on September 2.
