YG Denies Unauthorized Album Reproduction Amid Yang Hyun-suk and G-Dragon Copyright Investigation
While the police are investigating Yang Hyun-suk, chief producer of YG Entertainment, and singer G-Dragon (real name Kwon Ji-yong), among others, on suspicion of copyright infringement, YG has denied the allegations.
On the 13th, YG stated, "This issue arose when the artist listed two songs with the same title in the setlist during a solo performance in 2009, and it does not constitute unauthorized reproduction of an album."
Previously, composer A filed a complaint with the Mapo Police Station in Seoul in November of last year. The complaint alleges that YG unlawfully reproduced the song "G-DRAGON," which A had composed, to produce and distribute G-Dragon's album "Shine a Light." A also claims that the song's title was changed to "Nae Naui Yeolset" and that A's name was not credited.
It is also known that A filed the complaint not only against Yang Hyun-suk and G-Dragon, but also against Yang Min-suk, CEO of YG, and the CEO of YG Plus, a YG subsidiary.

The police have questioned some of those involved in the case and have conducted two searches and seizures at YG headquarters and other locations. The police stated, "The investigation is currently ongoing."
