Maggie Kang, Director of 'K-Pop Demon Hunters,' to Visit Korea Next Month
Presenting Strategies for Content Innovation at the Conference
Maggie Kang, the director of the Netflix animated film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters,' will visit Korea next month. According to the film industry on August 13, she will speak at the 'Global Media Conference' to be held at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul, on September 18. She will share the secrets behind the success of 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' and present strategies for content innovation and growth.
This will be her first visit to Korea since the release of 'K-Pop Demon Hunters.' Director Kang is a Korean-Canadian. She was born in Seoul and moved to Toronto, Canada with her family as a child. She majored in animation at Sheridan College in Canada and worked as a story artist at DreamWorks, Blue Sky, Warner Bros., and Illumination.
'K-Pop Demon Hunters,' which features a unique universe combining Korean shamanism and K-pop culture, is her first feature-length directorial work. She completed the film together with Chris Appelhans, an American director. The achievements are significant. The film became the most successful Netflix animated title of all time, and its original soundtrack (OST) 'Golden' topped both the UK Official Singles Chart and the Billboard Main Singles Chart.

The Global Media Conference is an event hosted by JoongAng Ilbo to commemorate its 60th anniversary. In addition to Director Kang, keynote speeches and presentations will be delivered by actor Lee Jungjae, director Bong Joonho, Mark Thompson, CEO of CNN, and Lee Sooman, founder of SM Entertainment.
