Daejeon Design Promotion Institute to Launch Full-Scale Innovative R&D in Design and Manufacturing Convergence
Three Projects Selected for Design Industry Technology Development Initiative by Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy
Daejeon Design Promotion Institute to Lead Large-Scale R&D Projects Strengthening Regional Competitiveness
The Daejeon Design Promotion Institute has had three projects selected in a government competition aimed at strengthening the technological competitiveness of the design industry in the Daejeon region, paving the way for the full-scale launch of large-scale research and development (R&D) projects.
In the third round of the 2025 'Design Industry Technology Development Project' competition, organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, a total of three projects from the Daejeon Design Promotion Institute were finally chosen as new recipients of government support.
Building on this achievement, the institute plans to strengthen the technological competitiveness of Daejeon's design industry over the coming years and to fully implement large-scale R&D projects that will drive industrialization and entry into the global market.
This selection is expected to serve as a significant milestone, as innovative design R&D achievements originating from the region expand beyond strengthening local design capabilities to become a national growth engine.
The Design Industry Technology Development Project is a government R&D initiative aimed at developing and supporting innovative design convergence technologies to create high added value that satisfies markets and consumers, secure design-based future growth engines, and enhance the competitiveness of Korea's design industry.
The projects selected in Daejeon align with the government's key focus areas for design R&D and include: ▲ Development of a smart CMF (Color, Material, Finish) design recommendation and 3D manufacturing linkage system ▲ Development of eco-friendly marine floating waste reduction technology ▲ Development of wearable design technology to improve safety and mobility for firefighters.
