Kim Minjung, Founder of AITONIA and AI Film Director, Spreads the 'AI-ryu' Wave Worldwide
This time, another wave of the Korean Wave, dubbed 'AI-ryu,' is sweeping across the globe. The Korean Wave of AI films is making a powerful impact worldwide.
AI film director Kim Minjung, who took the international film festival circuit by storm with her AI movie 'Choon'-including New York, Hollywood, Paris, London, Milan, Sweden, and India-has released a follow-up work.
This new piece, titled 'Choon Spinoff: Archie,' runs for approximately 12 minutes and presents a summary of the main storyline of the previous film, while delving into the subsequent story of the protagonist Archie, who represented the audience’s perspective.
Director Kim has already been invited to submit her work at film festivals in 43 countries. After screening 'Choon' at the River Film Festival in Italy, a leading local media outlet spotlighted her with the headline, 'The Bong Joon-ho of AI.'
In addition to 'Choon,' Director Kim has established a unique position in the AI film industry by winning ten awards at international film festivals with 'The Day I Saved a Fish.'
'Choon Spinoff: Archie' maintains the emotional tone of its predecessor while adding a new narrative structure and visually striking cinematography, capturing the attention of the international film industry.
This latest work is also drawing attention for its innovative production method. Director Kim’s studio, AITONIA, operates as an optimized one-person enterprise, where she, as the sole creator, collaborates with 13 GPT-based chatbot staff members.
Having integrated AI technology into every step of the creative process, Director Kim will participate in the OpenAI Seoul Creative Lab Creator Program starting August 12. There, she plans to unveil a new video produced exclusively with 'Sora' for the first time.
In addition, this November, she is scheduled to take the stage as a speaker at the Korea-ASEAN Cultural Innovation Forum in Singapore. Just as the Korean Wave has made waves around the world, the 'AI-ryu' led by Director Kim Minjung’s studio AITONIA is also expanding globally.
Director Kim remarked, "Although 'Choon' seemed like a perfect ending, Archie’s story is not over yet," and added, "This sequel is about growth through pain and loss, and explores the belief that 'if it’s real, it will come to you on its own.'"
She also described it as "another letter to my fans around the world."
