It will showcase both representative and rare works by each artist, spanning painting, drawing, sculpture, and media art. Careful attention has been paid to the spatial layout and visitor flow to enable a multidimensional appreciation of the artworks. The exhibition will take place on all floors, including the first floor, the Media Cube in the basement, and the sixth-floor Lounge Flux. Each section features representative pieces, media works, and related publications to allow for a multifaceted viewing experience.
The works of these five artists transcend the category of 'women,' demonstrating unique aesthetic achievements accomplished by overcoming the constraints of their times. The exhibition reinterprets, from a contemporary perspective, the weight of life and the creative struggles each artist endured as individuals and as creators, delivering a profound resonance.
Hong Jisook, director of Art Cube 2R2, stated, "This exhibition is not simply a retrospective of the achievements of women artists, but also an opportunity to reflect on how the artistic legacies they have left behind are being carried forward to the next generation." She added, "It also serves as a moment to reflect on the past year of the gallery and to explore its future direction."
