Waddle Wins First Place at 'OpenAI GPT-5 Hackathon'... Only Korean Team Awarded
The Highest Honor Among 93 Global Teams
Waddle announced on August 12 that it had taken first place among 93 global teams at the 'OpenAI GPT-5 Hackathon' held in San Francisco, United States.
This competition was co-hosted by OpenAI and Cerebral Valley, and Waddle, the only Korean team, earned the highest honor. Waddle received $50,000 worth of OpenAI credits (approximately 67 million KRW) awarded to the winning team, as well as an invitation to 'DevDay,' OpenAI's developer event to be held in San Francisco next month.
The Waddle team, consisting of CEO Park Ji-hyuk, engineers Song Jin-tae, Han Sang-do, and Hwang Tae-baek?a total of four members?traveled abroad to participate in the competition and, within 24 hours, developed a GPT-5-based system for generating digital clones of online shopping mall visitors and simulating sales strategies.
Additionally, the Waddle team implemented a sales strategy simulation system that creates digital clones of online shopping mall visitors based on conversation data between their AI assistant 'Gentoo' and users, and predicts performance for new arrivals, special promotions, and coupons. As a result, they received the highest score from a panel of judges composed of leading global VCs such as Sequoia Capital and Conviction, as well as OpenAI officials.
