Trump to Seek Putin-Zelensky Summit After "Constructive Talks" With Putin
"It bothered me a bit" by Zelensky's refusal of territorial exchange
US President Donald Trump stated that he expects to have "constructive talks" at the upcoming summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, scheduled for the 15th (local time) in Alaska.
At a press conference held at the White House on the 11th, President Trump said, "I will tell President Putin, 'You need to end this war,'" expressing his intentions for the meeting.
President Trump added that after meeting with President Putin, "The next meeting could be between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and President Putin, or it could be a meeting involving myself, President Zelensky, and President Putin. If they need me there, I will be present, but what I really want is to arrange a summit between the two leaders."
He also mentioned that a 'territorial exchange' and 'border changes' between Russia and Ukraine could take place, saying, "We will see what President Putin thinks, and if it is a fair deal, I will disclose it to the leaders of the European Union (EU), the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and President Zelensky." He continued, "I will not be the one to finalize the agreement. That is not my role," adding, "I want a ceasefire. I hope the best possible agreement can be reached."
