Sungju County Successfully Hosts "Midsummer Night Music Concert"... A Captivating Summer Night Blending Tradition and Modernity
Sungju County announced that the "15th Midsummer Night Music Concert" by Pungmulgutpae Eoullim, a local representative performing arts group selected for the 2025 Culture and Arts Promotion Public Contest (Performance Division), was successfully held on August 10, 2025.
Pungmulgutpae Eoullim, founded in 1999, is a traditional culture and arts group that has been consistently working to promote traditional culture in culturally marginalized rural areas.
To preserve and develop local traditional arts, the group operates a variety of performances, educational programs, and hands-on experiences, engaging with the residents of the county.
Celebrating its 15th edition this year, the "Midsummer Night Music Concert" featured a blend of traditional Korean folk music performances such as Geumhoe Bukchum, Samdo Samulnori, and Seongju Dure Nongak, as well as various other music genres. The event deeply moved and delighted both local residents and visitors, further highlighting Seongju’s identity as a city of culture.
Meanwhile, throughout July, Sungju County presented a range of cultural and artistic programs, including the "Healing Happiness Sharing" by the Sungju Tea Culture Education Center, the "Woodburning Experience" by the Cheongang Culture and Arts Research Society, and differentiated performances by Starville Saxophone, all of which received enthusiastic responses from residents.
On August 8, Byeolgoul Baramsori’s saxophone performance filled a hot summer day with pure melodies, offering a special experience to both Sungju residents and visitors.
