Yangsan City Youth After-School Academy Holds Special Reading Program at Pyeonsan Bookstore
A Special Reading Experience Program
Learning the Values of Books, Democracy, and Community
The Yangsan City Youth After-School Academy in South Gyeongsang Province visited Pyeonsan Bookstore, located in Habuk-myeon, on August 7 and held a special on-site experiential program with local youth.
This program was designed to give participants the opportunity to explore a reading culture space firsthand and to naturally experience the values of books, democracy, and community through a meeting with the bookstore keeper, former President Moon Jaein.
Pyeonsan Bookstore is a space established by former President Moon Jaein after his retirement. It is more than just a bookstore; it is a complex cultural space created so that any citizen can stay, read, and reflect in the company of books.
Pyeonsan Bookstore has become a warm space where people from different backgrounds share their hearts through books and view the world together.
The youth toured every corner of the bookstore, learned about the meaning of the space and the purpose of its establishment, and enjoyed a special moment as the bookstore keeper personally greeted them and presented them with books and bags as gifts.
The youth were moved by the warm greetings from the bookstore keeper, sharing their impressions such as, "Books have become special," and "It was a day I will remember for the rest of my life." This meeting not only increased their interest in books but also provided an opportunity for the children to think more deeply about our society.
This special reading program with the children was made possible with the support of Pyeonsan Bookstore. Thanks to stories tailored to the children's perspectives and the thoughtful preparations, it became an even more meaningful day.
