Kang Junhyun, Head of Sejong City Branch, Promotes Swift Reorganization of Major Party Bodies
Under the Principle of Ensuring a Government Rooted in Popular Sovereignty
Formation of the Ethics Tribunal and Evaluation Committee for Elected Officials
In preparation for the 9th nationwide local elections to be held next year, the Democratic Party of Korea's Sejong City branch has completed the formation of its Ethics Tribunal and the Evaluation Committee for Elected Officials to ensure systematic preparations. The establishment of these bodies is intended to reinforce party discipline and lay the foundation for a fair and transparent nomination system.
According to the Sejong City branch on August 7, the Ethics Tribunal is an organization responsible for overseeing rewards and disciplinary actions within the party, as well as conducting training to establish ethical discipline. The tribunal recently held its inaugural meeting, during which it elected its chairperson and discussed future plans.
A representative of the city branch stated, "Going forward, we will regularize meetings and focus on strengthening members' ethical awareness and enhancing our sense of responsibility as the ruling party."
The Evaluation Committee for Elected Officials is tasked with systematically and thoroughly assessing the legislative activities and public service capabilities of elected officials affiliated with the party. Once the detailed enforcement rules are finalized by the central party, the committee plans to hold preliminary briefings for local council members and, as early as October, begin full-scale evaluations.
