The meeting, held on the 7th at Haengbok-dong in the provincial government office, was attended by representatives from the Autonomous Police Committee, Jeonnam Provincial Office of Women and Family Policy, Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency, Yeosu Women's Shelter, 1366, Smile Center, Mokpo Women's Disability Sexual Violence Counseling Center, and Everyday Safety Guardians for Women. Participants reviewed each institution's current response status and explored future cooperation measures.
The attendees shared recent trends and types of stalking crimes, and focused on discussing integrated support measures that prioritize victim protection, as well as the necessity of organically linking each institution's counseling, protection, and investigation systems.
In particular, through examples of counseling programs for stalking offenders, participants agreed on the need for proactive preventive education and emphasized the importance of teaching self-protection strategies to help victims safeguard themselves.
There was also a proposal to actively utilize instructors from the Autonomous Police Safety Academy, operated by the Autonomous Police Committee, for victim prevention education.
Jeong Kyungchae, Secretary General of the Jeonnam Autonomous Police, stated, "It is important to recognize that stalking crimes are not just an individual issue but a matter of social responsibility," and urged, "Let us pursue practical and active cooperation among related organizations."
