Concerns Over Worker Health Amid Heatwave... Visit to Pyeongtaek Branch
"Mobile Coffee Truck" Event Held... On-Site Communication
As record-breaking heatwaves continue, Kim Dongseop, President of Korea National Oil Corporation, has been personally visiting worksites day after day to ensure worker safety.
On August 7, following his visit to the Ulsan Oil Storage Base on August 4, President Kim visited the Pyeongtaek Oil Storage Base to inspect the heatwave response measures. He directly communicated with employees of partner companies working on-site and checked on their health conditions.
He toured various hot work areas where midday temperatures exceeded 33 degrees Celsius, meticulously checking whether the five basic rules for heatwave response were being observed, including ensuring sufficient rest after long hours of outdoor work and providing cold beverages.
President Kim personally approached workers sweating on the job to express his gratitude, and held an on-site "mobile coffee truck" event, providing cold drinks and snacks while listening to the workers' feedback.
This was the second such event, following the first at the Yeosu Storage Base in May. The corporation plans to continue these periodic on-site events during the summer, as employees have responded positively to the president's direct engagement at worksites.
President Kim stated, "There is no value more important than your safety," and added, "Visiting the site and having necessary conversations on-site is the first step to creating real safety."
In preparation for this year's record-breaking summer heat, the corporation has been conducting special heatwave response safety inspections led by the president at all nine oil storage bases nationwide since May.
Proactive prevention activities have also been strengthened, such as distributing "heatwave prevention kits" to all workers, including employees of partner companies, and installing "cooling shelters" at various locations on-site.
