View original imageAt approximately 8:31 a.m. on August 7, a man in his 30s of Indonesian nationality, identified as Mr. A, fell overboard from a 23-ton Geoje-registered purse seine fishing vessel about 2 kilometers southwest of Oedo, Geoje City, Gyeongnam Province.
Upon receiving the report, the Tongyeong Coast Guard mobilized patrol vessels and helicopters to conduct a search focused on the accident site.
Relevant agencies and the Marine Disaster Rescue Unit have also joined the joint search effort at the request of the authorities.
There were a total of five people on board the fishing vessel at the time. It has been determined that Mr. A fell into the sea after being struck by a fishing net line while working on casting the net.
Mr. B, a man in his 40s of the same nationality, who was also struck by the net line during the casting operation, complained of chest pain and was transported to a hospital via emergency services (119).
