Pocheon City Launches Emergency Fundraising for Heavy Rain Recovery Through Hometown Love Donation System
Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Younghyeon) announced on August 7 that it will conduct an "Emergency Fundraising for Heavy Rain Damage Recovery" as a designated project under the Hometown Love Donation System until October 31, in order to support recovery efforts following heavy rainfall damage.
Pocheon City suffered property damage amounting to approximately 38.5 billion KRW and saw 50 residents displaced due to the heavy rain, and as a result, was designated a special disaster area on August 6. The city has launched a fundraising campaign through the Hometown Love Donation System to secure recovery funds and increase citizen participation.
The Hometown Love Donation System allows individuals to donate to local governments other than their place of residence, with full tax deductions available for donations up to 100,000 KRW. In particular, as Pocheon City has been designated a special disaster area, tax deduction benefits under the Hometown Love Donation System have been expanded: a 33% tax deduction is now applied to the portion exceeding 100,000 KRW, and donors also receive gifts equivalent to 30% of their donation amount.
Donations can be made through the "Hometown Love e-eum" website or at NongHyup branches nationwide, and all funds raised will be used exclusively for Pocheon City's heavy rain damage recovery projects.
