Lotte Engineering & Construction Partners with Seven Innovative Startups to Validate Future Construction Technologies
Expansion of On-Site Applications for AI, Robotics, and Indoor Environment Control
Lotte Engineering & Construction announced on August 7 that it has selected seven promising startups to drive innovation in construction technology and has begun proof-of-concept (PoC) testing. The company plans to integrate new technologies from a variety of fields, including artificial intelligence (AI), digital twin, autonomous robots, and eco-friendly facilities, into its construction sites.
Since April, Lotte Engineering & Construction has jointly held a startup competition with organizations such as the Busan Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, Seoul Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, Seoul Business Agency, Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, and Korea International Trade Association. A total of 101 companies participated, and after evaluations by the technology research institute and field professionals, seven companies were ultimately selected.
The selected companies are: Vibe, which developed a point-support type inter-floor soundproofing material; Oion, specializing in plasma-based deodorization and sterilization equipment; IKLab, which developed AI-based video analysis technology; AINomis, which offers a chatbot system for analyzing unstructured documents; DeHive, which provides autonomous robot navigation and monitoring control systems; InterX, which possesses digital twin and intelligent robot technologies; and Clenair, which specializes in liquefied dehumidification technology.
These companies will continue to collaborate with Lotte Engineering & Construction through technology verification, expanded on-site application, joint research and development, and pilot testing. In addition, Lotte Engineering & Construction is actively participating in private sector meetups such as IBK Changgong, NextRise, and World IT Show to continuously discover promising technologies.
Since 2022, Lotte Engineering & Construction has been applying startup technologies to its sites through its open innovation program. The company adopted AI-based design document analysis technology to prevent design errors in advance and improved quality by systematically managing document data.
Additionally, to enhance work efficiency and safety, the company applied modular earth retaining beams at construction sites. This method is considered to significantly improve productivity in underground construction and excavation work, as it is easier to install and dismantle compared to traditional methods.
Furthermore, Lotte Engineering & Construction jointly developed a platform and filed a patent by integrating AI smart farm control technology into residential community facilities. In partnership with a construction waste recycling startup, the company developed high-value-added recycling technology, demonstrated dust and noise reduction performance, and ensured production stability and economic feasibility.
A Lotte Engineering & Construction representative stated, "Through the open innovation program, we plan to rapidly secure innovative technologies and strengthen our competitiveness in future construction technologies," adding, "We will continue to pursue win-win cooperation with outstanding startups, as well as ongoing technology development and on-site application."
