On August 7, the special prosecutor's team investigating Kim Keonhee made a renewed attempt to execute the arrest warrant for former President Yoon Sukyeol. This was six days after their first attempt failed on August 1, and just one day after Kim Keonhee was summoned for her first interrogation.
Former President Yoon Sukyeol is entering the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 9th to undergo a detention hearing (warrant review). The hearing will be presided over by Chief Judge Nam Sejin (Judicial Research and Training Institute Class 33), who is in charge of warrants.
The special prosecutor's team arrived at Seoul Detention Center in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province, at around 7:50 a.m. that day.
Previously, on August 1, the team had visited the solitary cell where former President Yoon was being held and tried to persuade him for about two hours. However, the attempt failed as Yoon refused to comply with the execution of the arrest warrant, lying on the floor without even wearing a prison uniform.
Afterward, during a press briefing, the special prosecutor's team stated that they had notified former President Yoon that "if necessary, physical force would be used to complete the execution next time." They also said that if they failed to arrest him before the warrant expired, they would seek a new warrant. The arrest warrant for former President Yoon is set to expire on this day.
