Gyeongnam Office of Education to Recruit 790 Public School Teachers for 2026 ... First Exam in November
222 for Kindergarten and Elementary, 568 for Secondary, Health, and Others
The Gyeongnam Office of Education announced on August 6, 2025, that it will recruit 790 public school teachers for the 2026 academic year.
On the same day, the provincial education office posted a notice on its website regarding the competitive examination for selecting candidates for public kindergarten, elementary, secondary, and special school teachers.
The total number of positions includes 222 for kindergarten and elementary special education (kindergarten/elementary) and 568 for secondary, health, librarian, professional counseling, nutrition, and secondary special education.
The breakdown is as follows: 55 kindergarten teachers, 130 elementary school teachers, 11 special school kindergarten teachers, and 26 special school elementary teachers.
For secondary schools, there are 470 teachers, 32 secondary special school teachers, 30 health teachers, 18 nutrition teachers, 5 librarians, and 13 professional counselors.
By subject, the positions include: 49 for Korean, 56 for mathematics, 13 for physics, 24 for chemistry, 22 for biology, 17 for earth science, 39 for general social studies, 23 for history, 19 for geography, 39 for ethics/morality, 45 for physical education, 8 for music, 14 for art, 29 for English, 22 for technology, 12 for home economics, 37 for information/computer, 1 for electricity, and 1 for beauty.
The recruitment plan for kindergarten, elementary, and special (kindergarten/elementary) teachers will be announced on September 10, 2025, and the first round of the exam will be held on November 8, 2025.
The recruitment plan for secondary teachers, as well as health, librarian, professional counseling, nutrition, and secondary special education teachers, will be announced on October 1, 2025, with the first round of the exam scheduled for November 22, 2025.
An official from the provincial education office stated, "The final number of recruits may change depending on teacher supply and demand or personnel needs," and advised, "Prospective teachers preparing for the exam should check the official recruitment announcement to confirm the exact number of positions."
