Gyeongnam National University, Preliminary Glocal University Designee, Achieves Top Rating in University Innovation Support Project for Two Consecutive Years
S Grade in Education Innovation Performance, A in Autonomous Performance Management
Both Achieve Top Ratings... Additional Incentives for the Third Cycle of the Project
Gyeongnam National University has achieved the highest rating, 'SA grade (Education Innovation Performance S, Autonomous Performance Management A),' for two consecutive years in the performance evaluation of the University Innovation Support Project Type I (General Financial Support Project), supported by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.
The University Innovation Support Project is a flagship university funding program by the Ministry of Education, aimed at improving university structures through autonomous innovation at each institution to provide high-quality higher education and foster future talent. In the second cycle (2022-2024), a total of 117 universities participated.
On August 6, the Ministry of Education announced the evaluation results for two areas: innovation performance and autonomous performance management. In the 'education innovation performance' area, universities were assessed on their achievements and plans for educational innovation in response to changing educational environments. In the 'autonomous performance management' area, universities were evaluated on their management and feedback performance regarding self-established performance indicators.
In this evaluation, Gyeongnam National University received high marks for its university innovation achievements aimed at nurturing future convergence-type talent, including: expansion centered on the School of Liberal Arts and the establishment and operation of a Major Design Support Center; operation of the university-industry cooperation 'KU-Modular Curriculum'; implementation of an AI-based academic guidance system; strengthening the connection between curricular and extracurricular programs; autonomous innovation-driven restructuring; and enhancement of education innovation governance.
As a result, following last year's second-year evaluation of the second cycle, Gyeongnam National University once again received the highest grades?S in education innovation performance and A in autonomous performance management?in the third-year evaluation. This enables the university to receive additional incentives for the operation of the third cycle (2025-2027) of the project.
