3,113 New Public Elementary School Teachers to Be Hired Next Year... Down 27% from This Year
The government will hire a total of 10,232 new teachers next year, including 3,113 new teachers for public elementary schools and 4,797 new teachers for secondary schools. Compared to the preliminary recruitment numbers announced this year, the number of new elementary school teachers has decreased by 26.7%, and the number of new secondary school teachers has decreased by 0.4%.
On August 6, the Ministry of Education announced the 'Preliminary Notice of Recruitment Scale for the 2026 Public School New Teacher Appointment Candidate Selection Competitive Examination,' as posted by the 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education nationwide.
The number of new elementary school teachers to be recruited is 3,113, which is 1,159 fewer than the 4,272 positions preliminarily announced this year. This reduction is attributed to an adjustment of the additional positions that were previously increased to support the Neulbom School policy last year.
The number of new secondary school teachers to be recruited is 4,797, which is 707 fewer than the 5,504 positions announced this year.
