Actress Park Jinhee, Leading Environmental Advocate in Entertainment, Appointed Ambassador for 4th Hanappunji Earth Film Festival
"Joining for a Sustainable Future of the Earth for Our Children"
The Only Domestic Film Festival on the Climate Crisis... August 21-25 at Busan Cinema Center
Actress Park Jinhee, a leading environmental advocate in the entertainment industry, will participate in the 4th Hanappunji Earth Film Festival, which marks its fourth edition this year and aims to raise public awareness about the severity of the climate crisis.
The non-profit organization Rights of Nature (Chairman: Jang Jeguk) announced on August 5 that Park Jinhee has been appointed as the honorary ambassador.
Park Jinhee is scheduled to deliver the opening lecture titled "10 Minutes for the Earth by Environmental Advocate Park Jinhee" at the opening ceremony on August 21.
As a representative environmental advocate in the entertainment industry, Park Jinhee readily accepted the proposal to serve as the ambassador for the Hanappunji Earth Film Festival, which is the only domestic film festival dedicated to the climate crisis and is now in its fourth year.
She said, "I was very pleased when I received the proposal. I have consistently spoken out about climate change and the climate crisis, and have practiced small actions in my daily life. Creating a sustainable future for the Earth where our children will live is an urgent task, so I decided to join as an ambassador to contribute, even if only in a small way."
She has consistently raised public awareness about environmental issues by sharing her daily use of eco-friendly products such as tumblers and eco bags on social media. She has also continued to take action, such as participating in solo protests holding handmade signs made from cardboard boxes with messages like "In the era of climate emergency, we can no longer postpone action."
In addition, in October last year, Park Jinhee delivered a keynote speech on "Climate Change and Environmental Protection" at the opening ceremony of the 28th World Korean Business Convention & Korea Product Exhibition in Vienna, Austria. She emphasized, "We must not pass on an Earth threatened by marine warming, rising sea levels, and water shortages to our children," and added, "Now is the last golden time to respond to climate change." Beyond this, Park Jinhee has continued her efforts to protect the environment and nature in various fields, serving as an ambassador for the Cultural Heritage Administration's Natural Heritage, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' Companion Beach, the World Conservation Congress, and Energy Sharing.
Since her debut in 1996, Park Jinhee has built a solid filmography and earned recognition for her acting in a variety of works, including "Whispering Corridors," "War of Money," and "Giant."
Most recently, she once again demonstrated her talent by winning the Top Excellence Award at the KBS Drama Awards for "Taejong Lee Bangwon." Known for her upright and kind image, she is expected to play a meaningful role in raising awareness about the seriousness of the climate crisis and encouraging public participation.
With the participation of environmental advocate and actress Park Jinhee, the 4th Hanappunji Earth Film Festival has gained momentum and will be held for five days from August 21 to 25 at the Busan Cinema Center. The opening film will be the documentary "Jane Goodall: Reasons for Hope," which follows the journey of the world-renowned zoologist and environmental activist Jane Goodall, now in her nineties. A total of 49 films from 20 countries, carefully selected from 2,303 submissions from Korea and abroad, will be screened.
