KOSPI Falls During Session on Institutional and Foreign Net Selling

View original imageThe KOSPI is showing a downward trend during the session, pressured by net selling from institutional and foreign investors.
As of 10:12 a.m. on August 6, 2025, the KOSPI was trading at 3,184.91, down 0.41% from the previous day.
By investor type, institutions and foreigners were net sellers of 18.3 billion won and 240.4 billion won, respectively, while individuals were net buyers of 235.7 billion won. In the futures market, institutions and individuals were net sellers of 84.6 billion won and 90.0 billion won, respectively, while foreigners were net buyers of 201.3 billion won.
By sector, more sectors were rising than falling. The electricity and gas sector was up 5.55%, chemicals 2.22%, construction 2.15%, medical precision 1.69%, transportation and storage 1.11%, food, beverage and tobacco 0.93%, non-metallic minerals 0.91%, distribution 0.8%, insurance 0.26%, textiles and apparel 0.3%, real estate 0.28%, and paper and wood 0.06%. On the other hand, transportation equipment fell 1.27%, pharmaceuticals 1.22%, electrical and electronics 1.05%, and IT services 0.74%.
Among the top market cap stocks, performances were mixed. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix were down 1.43% and 1.61%, respectively. Samsung Biologics fell 2.0%, Hanwha Aerospace dropped 3.33%, Celltrion declined 0.62%, and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries was down 2.05%. In contrast, LG Energy Solution rose 0.26%, KB Financial Group was up 0.93%, Doosan Enerbility gained 1.08%, and Kia increased 0.89%.
The KOSDAQ index turned upward, supported by institutional buying. The KOSDAQ was trading at 801.33, up 0.34% from the previous day. By investor type, institutions were net buyers of 18.9 billion won, while foreigners and individuals were net sellers of 6.3 billion won and 13.5 billion won, respectively.
Among the top market cap stocks on the KOSDAQ, performances were mixed. Alteogen was down 0.79%, Peptron dropped 1.02%, HLB fell 2.1%, Samchundang Pharm declined 0.47%, Lino Industrial was down 1.41%, and Kolon TissueGene dropped 0.62%. In contrast, Ecopro BM surged 3.69%, Ecopro rose 0.19%, PharmaResearch climbed 2.84%, Rigachem Bio jumped 4.83%, and Rainbow Robotics was up 0.55%.
