According to the county on August 5, a total of 24 participants?including 7 youth and 17 members of the Youth Participation Committee?will take part in the democratic citizenship camp for four days and three nights, from today until August 8.
This camp is part of the "Youth Growth Support Project in Areas with Declining Population," and it has been organized to expand opportunities for exchange among youth and to cultivate the values of democracy and civic competence.
Participants will begin by signing a memorandum of understanding with the Hanam Youth Participation Organization, and then work to improve their communication skills and social abilities through exchange programs and sports activities.
They also plan to directly visit symbolic sites of democracy such as Gyeongbokgung Palace, the National Assembly Building, Seodaemun Prison History Hall, and the Constitutional Court, thereby broadening their understanding of Korea's constitutional history and citizens' rights and responsibilities.
In addition, cultural activities will be held at Seoul Future Lab and Lotte World, providing opportunities for new experiences that help stabilize emotions and relieve academic stress.
Kim Daehwan, head of the Department of Women and Youth in Sinan County, said, "I hope this camp will serve as an opportunity for youth to develop sensitivity to democracy and a sense of civic consciousness," adding, "We will continue to actively promote various youth-led growth programs in the future."
