Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju Aims to Become a City Coexisting with Companion Animals
Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju announced on August 5 that it will expand its policies for coexistence with companion animals. To reduce community conflicts caused by behavioral issues of pet dogs and to foster a mature pet culture, it will operate a "Pet Owner Culture Class" starting next month. In addition, this month, it will recruit participants among residents who live with registered pet dogs.

Gwangsan-gu will provide up to 250,000 won per animal to citizens who temporarily foster abandoned or lost animals admitted to the Gwangju Animal Protection Center. The district will encourage adoption and strengthen cooperation with related organizations to prevent animal abandonment.
