May Mothers' House Announces Call for Candidates for the 19th May Mothers' Award
Applications Accepted Until the 29th
Award Ceremony to Be Held on October 25
The May Mothers' House announced on the 5th that it is publicly recruiting candidates for the 19th May Mothers' Award.
The May Mothers' Award was established to discover and honor unsung contributors who dedicated themselves to defending democracy in Korea in May 1980, to acknowledge their efforts, and to reaffirm the spirit of May.
Anyone, regardless of region or nationality, who was sacrificed or recognized for their contributions to Korea's democratization movements, including the 5·18 Democratization Movement, is eligible to apply as an individual or as an organization. However, direct recipients of the 5·18 Merit Award and their relatives are excluded.
The application period runs until the 29th. Applicants can submit documents in person at the May Mothers' House, by mail, or by email. The award ceremony will be held on October 25 at the May Mothers' House. Two individual awardees will each receive 1 million won, and one organization will receive 3 million won in prize money.
