Man in His 40s Steals Car from Hotel, Visits Police Station Himself and Is Urgently Arrested
A man in his 40s who stole a car and fled from a hotel parking lot in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, was apprehended by police after visiting a local police station.
The Gangseo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 4th that they had urgently arrested Mr. A, who had stolen a vehicle from a hotel parking lot in Gangseo-gu and fled the scene.
Mr. A is suspected of stealing a car that was waiting for valet parking at the hotel parking lot on the 30th of last month and then fleeing the scene.
It was confirmed that a few hours after his escape, Mr. A visited the police station and reported his mobile phone as lost. The officers on duty were convinced that Mr. A was the same person suspected of the theft, and upon searching his bag, they found the vehicle registration certificate belonging to the victim, leading to his urgent arrest.
During the investigation, Mr. A reportedly denied the crime, saying, "I only came to the police station because I lost my phone. If I had stolen a car, would I have come here?" When police checked Mr. A for alcohol consumption, his blood alcohol concentration was 0.112%, which is at the level for license revocation, and he did not have a valid driver's license.

A police official stated, "Quick response and careful observation by our staff led to the arrest of the thief," and added, "Although the suspect continues to deny the crime, we will thoroughly investigate any additional offenses."
