A man in his 50s, identified as A, was sentenced to prison after threatening citizens while walking around in a heavily intoxicated state after drinking nine bottles of soju.
On August 1, Chief Judge Woo Sangbeom of the Changwon District Court Criminal Division 6 announced that A, who had been indicted on charges including possession of a weapon in a public place, was sentenced to eight months in prison. According to the investigation, A committed the crime after drinking nine bottles of soju and using a weapon he had found the previous day while collecting recyclable waste.

Previously, A was indicted on charges of threatening passing citizens with a weapon or appearing to threaten to stab himself on a road in Changwon, Gyeongnam, in June. The court stated, "The nature of the crime is serious, and the offense was committed during the repeat offender period following a previous theft conviction," and added, "The court also considered that the crime appears to have been committed impulsively under the influence of alcohol."
