If the Ministry of Education grants approval, Chosun University will begin recruiting new students for the integrated university starting in March 2027 and will fully transition to a unified system.
The two institutions began discussions on integration in 2020 and have since pursued a careful and systematic process over approximately five years. This process included: signing an integration business agreement in 2023; forming a university integration promotion committee; holding faculty and staff briefings and surveys; operating integration promotion and working committees; conducting board deliberations and internal decision-making; and conducting multiple supplementary reviews for submission to the Ministry of Education.
Throughout this process, they have established a solid foundation for implementation by engaging in substantive discussions on curriculum linkage, organizational restructuring, and student welfare measures.
Chosun University aims to secure the third-largest nursing workforce training base in Korea through the integration, and aspires to lead the global healthcare market in the era of well-aging by establishing an educational system that combines nursing and health expertise with AI and big data technologies.
Kim Choonseong, President of Chosun University, stated, "This integration is a key phase of structural innovation linked to Chosun University's 'Well-Aging Glocal University' strategy, and it will serve as the foundation for nurturing healthcare professionals who can advance beyond the region to the world. We will complete an integrated model in which the university, the local community, and students grow together."
