During the meeting, following the designation of the Shinan Offshore Wind Power Cluster in April, additional civilian members were appointed to increase participation from residents of the cities and counties along the planned transmission line route and to strengthen cooperation with these regions. The council also discussed plans for the construction of joint connection facilities.
Kang Wiwon, Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of Jeollanam-do, stated, "The Shinan Offshore Wind Power Cluster will become a strategic hub that aligns with the global trend of energy transition and the government's policy of expanding renewable energy." He added, "By attracting companies related to offshore wind power and creating quality jobs, we will lead the renewable energy industry and contribute to revitalizing the local economy."
He also emphasized, "We are proactively preparing for the enactment of the special law on RE100 industrial complexes so that Jeollanam-do can be designated as an RE100 industrial complex. Through the establishment of the RE100 complex, we aim to attract global companies and solidify the foundation for the region's future growth."

Jeollanam-do was designated as the first phase of the Shinan Offshore Wind Power Cluster with a capacity of 3.2GW on April, after going through the public-private council to secure resident acceptance and environmental viability. A total of 20 trillion won in private investment is expected to be promoted, and it is anticipated to contribute to attracting global companies for the realization of RE100 and to establishing a practical foundation for the offshore wind power equipment-related industry.
